Music, Mantras, and Meditation

Updated: Jun 18, 2023

Good things often come in packages of three, at least that is what I have always heard; Faith, Hope, and Love, for example. Over the years I have found a healing pattern of three, in Music, Mantras, and Meditation. These three powerful healing elements work together so well, that if I find I have left one of them out of my spiritual practice, I can feel the difference. I feel something is lacking and even my vibration is lower. However, when I include all three of these healing elements into my spiritual practice, I am elevated to a higher level of consciousness, understanding, and peace.

Music: I often listen to uplifting music like, Carol King’s song: Music (is playing inside my head.) Every time I play this song, I am transformed to a better place. One fine Morning, by the group Lighthouse, lifts my spirit and fills me with joy. George Harrison’s: Give me Love (Give me Peace on Earth), or Paul McCartney’s song: Till there Was You, never fails to fill my heart with love. Do yourself a favor and listen to these songs and pay attention to how your body responds.

Mantras: Mantras help to ground us and keep us centered in a world that at times is stressful and chaotic. Repeating a simple phrase throughout the day is calming and healing to me. I certainly have my “Go to Mantras” Like: Jesus I trust in you; Karen Drucker’s, I am healed, whole, and healthy; or the beautiful mantra: Om Mani Padme Hum. Even Disney knows the value of mantras: Hakuna Matata in Swahili means “no trouble, no problems.” Finally, we have all used this phrase from time to time: This too Shall Pass, during times of trouble.

Meditations: Meditation is such an important practice in my spiritual life that if I miss a day, I can feel the difference in my being. People often say that they do not have time to meditate, but even one minute a day of meditation can be life changing. My daily meditation is called: The Meditation of Twin Hearts. This meditation is based on the prayer of St. Francis of Assisi and is a highly advanced prayer/meditation of loving kindness and world peace. You can find this meditation on YouTube. The short version is 9 minutes or you can select other versions that range from 20-30 minutes. Master Stephan Co and Master Glenn Mendoza have several versions of this meditation on YouTube. Another powerful meditation on loving kindness and compassion, and only 13 minutes long is called: A Gift of Loving Kindness Meditation by Emma Seppala, PH.D. also, on YouTube. Finally, the song by Karen Drucker: There is Only Love, is a beautiful healing meditation/song for all. I sometime play this on repeat to capture the full benefit of bringing peace and comfort to my soul.

In my opinion, good things do come in packages of three. Just like: Faith, Hope, and Love. Music, Mantras, and Meditation, can enhance your spiritual development and your emotional and mental well-being.
